Unlike the past several years, there was no doll making in the works for Christmas this year. I'll admit to feeling a bit like a junkie in need of a fix as a result. That is, until my dealer Sew Mama Sew gave me just the excuse I needed to stay up way too late turning wool, fabric, yarn and thread into this. Oh, I love her so.
She is made with 100% wool stuffing, cotton knit skin, a cotton velour body and a recycled wool sweater vest. She's eleven inches tall and is a soft limbed sack doll, perfect for a toddler or young child. On the back of her vest is a needle felted dove.
Only sometimes she doesn't like to wear her vest.
So, how might she arrive in your mailbox?
You need to leave a comment on this post with a suggestion for her name and any details you feel like sharing about how you picked it. At 8pm on December 6th, I will close the comments and choose the name I like best and that person will be the winner. If, by some stroke of genius, two or more of you out there come up with the same name and it happens to be my favorite, I will rely on an old but well proven (and much loved by my children) means for negotiating conflict... eenie meanie miny mo. I am willing to ship internationally and she will be sent out the the winner by the 12th of December at the latest, but barring famine, flood, or a vomiting child, most likely on the 7th.
And just because I can't seem to stop myself. A second giveaway! (Um, I could get hooked on this.) A child sized reversible apron. Can we talk about this fabric? I think I wanna go steady.
To win this one, please tell describe a holiday confection you plan to make or eat this season. I'll wipe the drool, pick one that sounds especially yummy and that person will be the winner. The same shipping info applies here as well.
Yay!

Comments are closed and I'm working my way through the names and treats.
I'm down to a list of thirteen but how do I choose!?!?! But I will... soon!
****************************
The winner of the doll is Joanna ([email protected]) who was the first of three people to suggest the name Clementine and whose name was chosen from those three, as promised, by eeny meeny miny mo. This was so hard, there were so many good names.
The winner of the apron is Trisha ([email protected]) who gave me a quick recipe for making lollipops. I got a barley pop in my stocking each year as a kid and have very very fond memories of that. I'm really excited at the idea of tracking down some barley sugar and making them with my girls.
Thanks to everyone for joining in the giveaway!
I'll call her Estrellita (little star in spanish), sounds like she's little and cute

I am making a Oaxacan vegetarian meal for my vegetarian guests. The dessert will be brown butter ice cream with homemade caramel sauce

The kids are going to make this wonderfully easy, yet terribly addictive treat we tried just this weekend--candy coated popcorn! You just pour 4 squares of melted Candy Quick (we used white) over a bag of micro popcorn, toss, cool on foil, and then just try to stop eating so you can give some away.

Her name would have to be Gretta. She just looks like one to me.

Her name is Paloma, meaning 'dove', because she has a dove on her vest. And she has a dove on her vest in tribute to famous fashion designer Paloma Picasso, because she has a very refined fashion sense, of course.
For the holidays, I'm making semolina cookies with lime zest, dipped in dark chocolate.

I would call her Hilda. She looks like she is all bundled up, ready to play in the snow. When I was a kid, my grandma, Hilda, used to always remind me to zip up my coat when I played outside. So she reminded me of my gram, Hilda.

Dahlia is the first name that came into my mind when I looked at this doll. I always think of tree or flower names (my kids are named Acacia, Madrone and Rowan). We have a lizard named Violet and a dog named Holly. Your sweet doll just immediately looked like a Dahlia to me, bright, cheery and easygoing, just like dahlias in the garden.

Her name should be "CheekyBaby" because she has the most adorable chubby cheeks. I call my daughter Madeline "CheekyBaby" because of her chubby cheeks and she would adore this doll. She is 10 months old and when her hair finally comes all the way in it will be brown just like the dolly.
We would love to welcome her into our home!

How about Berry Christmas - or Elfie Joy? She's adorable!

I like the name Zuzu - my favourite movie is It's a wonderful life! Such a sweet doll. We love waldorf dolls!
And that is a pretty apron! We plan to make Springerles, our favourite, anise flavoured holiday treat!

I'm planning to make candied orange slices and coffee caramel toffee.

For the Fabulous Apron... OK. My son has been making this for 3 years now. PUMPKIN GINGERBREAD TRIFLE. Bake a box of gingerbread. Let cool. Cut into small chunks. Cook up some Vanilla pudding mix, let cool and mix with a can of pumpkin ( already spiced with pumpkin pie spice or add your own). NOW! Assemble everything in a footed Trifle bowl, or any large glass (see-through) bowl as follows: Gingerbread, pumpkin mix, whipped cream ( My son uses Cool Whip) Repeat. End with whipped cream, sprinkle with crushed gingersnaps if desired. PS Easy-Peasy and you WILL NOT have leftovers!!!

Well, it is summer here, and we have been berry picking, so I think we will be having baked cheesecake with berry topping...
The doll is beautiful. I think Scarlett would suit her.

For the apron. This year is all about creating traditions. My three year old daughter and I are doing alot of creating. Tonight we made homemade lollipops, super easy and super quick. 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup light cornstarch, 1/3 cup water, bring to a boil over medium-high heat w/o stirring, when temp reaches 250-260 add food coloring (no need to stir the boiling does it for you), continue to boil until the temp reaches 300, remove from heat add flavor oil and pour into molds, if no mold use your table top covered with parchment paper. Candy thermometer can be puchased for about $3 at walmart. We are also making chex mix, stained glass cookies (recipe on SMS website one of the November post, can't remember which one) and train made out of fruity pebbles. Thanks for the giveaway and sorry for going on and on. But I just love this time of year with little ones and the chance to create memories (the best gift)
Merry Christmas!!!

I think she looks like an Annabelle. She is a very classic looking christmas babydoll. I pick Annabelle because Anna is a classic name and Belle because, "everytime a bell rings an angle gets its wings!" you are quite the talent. Her brown hair and brown eyes remind me of my baby girl.

Charlette. Don't know why put she looks like one. I have a Happy Pants at home who would just love her to death (in a good way). thanks for the giveaway.
Have a Merry Christmas!!!

I'm sure this name is cliche, but I choose Noel. Not only does it fit this sweet holiday doll, but it reminds me of my daughter. Her middle name is Noel because she was due on Christmas day. She came a month early (!!!), but we decided to keep that middle name. Annaliese TurkeyandDressing didn't sound as good.
Thanks for the chance to enter!
